P7 treasure hunts

P7 went out and mapped our woodland and grassy pitch and then used their maps to pinpoint where they’d hidden “treasure”!

Here are some of the young cartographers at work:

Mapping our area

P5/6 and P7 had a go at map making using observation skills and deciding what features were permanent to the location.

They began by mapping the area around the bridge by the canal. P5/6 and P7 then tried making plans of their classrooms.  Next:a map of an outdoor site!

Canal Dipping

As part of their RSPB Wild Challenge award, P5/6, P6 and P7 went to the Forth and Clyde canal and selected a safe spot to see if they could discover what thrives under the surface!

The swans were quite interested and visited two out of the three classes.

P4 came with Mrs Stevely and had a go too!

RSPB Wild Challenge

P5/6, P6 and P7 have all been working towards getting a bronze Wild Challenge Award from the RSPB. Each class has to complete 6 challenges in order to get the award.  Three of the challenges encourage the children to help nature and the other three are about experiencing nature.

They’ve built big hotels, made hedgehog homes, created mini ponds and gone canal dipping too.

I shall add some photos of what they’ve been up to soon!
