P1/2 and the gull!

P1/2 came out in the drizzle to collect natural objects and then sort them. Some children sorted by colour, some by size and others put similar objects together eg leaves, berries and sticks.

On the way back to class, we saw this young gull which was quite taken with a basketball and it would push the ball away then follow it and push it again and again. Do birds play? We don't know but this one certaninly seemed to be fascinated by the ball!

Blooming busy!

It's been all hands on deck this year as the unusually hot weather has meant one very dry poly tunnel! We would love to have a water butt but we are still blighted with unwelcome "visitors" at the weekends and evening who like to wreck anything movable left outside so for just now we are relying on people power to water the plants. Our family gardening group has worked hard and their efforts are paying off!

Have a look below: we have corn, courgettes, peppers, tomatoes, carrots, peas, beetroot, rainbow beetroot, broccoli and watermelon all thriving just now!

Watering the beetroot

Watering the whitecurrant and blackcurrant border

Watering her raised bed

Tending to the corn

Picking a pepper!
