P5/6 Linnvale Park Litter Pick

 P5/6 have taken up the challenge and embraced being Eco Ambassadors for our school-they all work tirelessly and enthusiastically and today their hard work  was noticed by a passer by.  A very kind lady drove by and stopped her car and brought out a massive bag of fun sized bags of Haribo to thank our young Litter pickers for clearing the rubbish from the park and church grounds.  They had worked in trios-each group targeting a specific litter type and one picked, one had the binbag and one recorded quantities on an iPod. 

Their gathered information was then turned into bar graphs as part of the measure element of our next green flag award.  

It was lovely to have their hard work noticed and appreciated by a member of the local community. Thank you-it really made our day! 

Litter Survey and Litter Pick

 P5/6 carries out a litter pick and survey this week.  They were pretty annoyed to go out at playtime and discover that more litter had been dropped just after they had worked so hard to clear the playground.  So they have taken action and will be sharing it with the rest of the school at assembly!

Spooky woods!

 If you down to the woods you may just see some newly made Halloween decorations! P6 and P7 have been busy!

P7 Global Citizens!

 P7 has been busy building bird and bat boxes after sourcing kits from a local supplier. They have worked in teams to assemble the boxes and used a cordless power drill to put the screws in as well as using screwdrivers. Here are some of their finished birdboxes!

P5/6 canal design work!

 P5/6 went for a walk and collected a beautiful collection of autumn leaves-stunning colours and interesting shapes gathered as they went along the route.  

The swans and the cygnets came and nibbles some food in front of us and a few more brambles were

P7 treasure hunts

 P7 went out and mapped our woodland and grassy pitch and then used their maps to pinpoint where they’d hidden “treasure”!

Mapping our area

 P5/6 and P7 had a go at map making using observation skills and deciding what features were permanent to the location.

They began by mapping the area around the bridge by the canal. P5/6 and P7 then tried making plans of their classrooms.  Next:a map of an outdoor site!
